Class talk by Sana.

We learned about the different native plants that live in Alpine, lowland forests, swamp forests and coastal areas. Our challenge this week is to look for some native plants that are growing locally and find out what kind of environment they would naturally grow in.

Class talk by Amelia McQueen for Inquiry.

Today we had a visit from Amelia McQueen(Yasmine's mum).  She brought a microscope. She showed us how to use it and what is can be used for.

We wrote our names really small and looked at them under the microscope. Then we looked at some stomata (the tiny pores under a leaf) and talked about how the stomata helped a plant make its food.

Magpies

We had a visit from three of  the Magpies. They gave some lucky children rugby balls. Other children will get some free tickets. This was because our school came second in the ITM sticker competition. Here we are calling out their name.

Shake it Out.

Today we joined the national 'Shake it Out' earthquake drill. We practised our Drop, Cover and Hold safety routine when the bell and the sirens went at 9.15 am.
